ON THE FRONT
I got this for my roommate, then ended up keeping it because I liked the color scheme and thought the message might get misconstrued.
Two name tags from my time at a women’s athleisure wear brand. Two years there. I can’t even tell you why I brought them here… on second thought, I thought I could have a retail job while in school. I bought them on the off-chance I felt inclined to return to a workplace I was familiar with, instead of trying somewhere new (or higher paying)
This sticker is migratory. First it was on my guitar, then peeled carefully with an exact knife and relocated.
Not strong enough to stick to my car, nor is it able to replace the caprock canyon sticker stolen off my car in the Hancock HEB parking lot.
Strong magnet. Too strong. Would definitely stick to my car. Acquired in yosemite. Summer trip to drive a 2008 Prius with 120,000 miles on it from Oakland to Austin. We made it in 5 whole, undisturbed pieces (there are 4 of us, the Prius was in good shape too)
Heavily uninspired by the ideas I had, I used someone else’s. Coca Cola radio show. Just kidding. Roommate Laundry is the program I did at the university radio station — with my roommate. Laundry? I don’t know.
Roman Ionic. Only a foot and a half tall. Tall enough, plaster. Initially bought to support plants, or something like that. Plants did at one point sit atop it, then books, then a candle, now a mirror.
ON THE TOP
1/2 belongings acquired the first time I met one of my roommates. She bought a set of gold coasters. The mirror was silver, so were the coasters. The gold has since chipped away, leaving a relatively unharmed silver base. Dust is accumulated on the mirror most noticeably.
Two bags from small silver earrings I distributed amongst friends so that we could all match. I sometimes wish I had held onto some of them. They were all in different sizes and sometimes I want to wear three of the same size ones but now I realize this is a silly thing to complain about.
There are two sets of earrings from my grandmother that traveled from Greenland and china, a delicate gold necklace that sits under four others. It shouldn’t.
A silver necklace with a charm, the kind that comes in the mail.
My mom got this for me at a garden shop and regrets every day not buying one for herself. I am going to give it to her next time I see her.
IN:
-
Underwear, between 5-12 at any time

Socks, miscellaneous, some unmatched

Shorts
-
Bandanas, folded in fourths. I received most of these from my father. They are sun bleached from his use of them while playing softball.
-
Hand sanitizer refill bottle. I received this from my mother.
-
Big bag of swimsuits. Some aren’t even in there. I keep one in my car at all times because you never know when you might come across a swimming hole.
